THE NATIONAL CAMPUS (GOOD TO GO)
WHERE DO I START?
At first glance, the campus might seem a bit overwhelming, but if you break it down into specific areas, you will see that it will pretty easy to get around.
The map above should give you all of the major areas (or neighborhoods), but if you watch the video on the left, I will break the neighborhoods down into what they have to offer for players and providers.
It is important that you are familiar with all of the areas of the campus, so you can help provide our guests memorable experiences. See below for descriptions.
Campus Site Facts - You should know these. They are good talking points with players and guests.
The USTA National Campus (GOOD)
· The Campus is open to the public and will serve all levels of play for all ages!
· The USTA National Campus opened January 2, 2017 with the first tournament scheduled for January 6th.
· The Campus will be open Monday-Friday from 7:30 AM-9PM and Sat -Sundays from 7:30 - 5
· There is an hourly court rental fee for guests and the courts may be reserved online 48 hours in advance.
· We have a robust tennis program for kids and adults of all ages and levels are offered.
· With 64+ acres and 100 lighted courts (including Pickleball and Padel ), the National Tennis Campus is possibly the largest tennis facility in the world, although large in scale, the Campus is made up of smaller very functional neighborhoods.
· No tennis facility has ever been executed before at this scale. The land available provided the opportunity to add large green spaces, water features and enhanced landscaping to make this a unique Campus.
· There are pavilions located throughout the facility featuring water filling stations, restrooms and shade.
· The National Campus is the anchor of the “Lake Nona Sports and Performance District” which will include the Lake Nona Sports and Performance Club, USPTA and USTA Florida Section headquarters.
· The Campus is less than 20 minutes from the Orlando Airport.
· The USTA National Campus will serve as the epicenter for tennis innovation, providing opportunities for the testing and growth of new and emerging technologies and serving as a lab for sports science.
· It is the home to USTA-U, a “tennis university” developing a pipeline of future coaches, teaching professionals and tournament directors while raising the standards for event management, coaching, officiating and the customer experience.
· As the future Home to American tennis, the Campus will be home to several Pro Circuit events giving our aspiring American professionals an ideal venue to showcase and develop their talent.
· The USTA’s Community Tennis and Player Development Divisions will have their headquarters at the Campus.
· The Campus will also be home to the national training center for USTA-certified officials. The site will be used to develop innovative methods for teaching, evaluating and certifying officials.
· The facility will incorporate the latest technology to provide an unparalleled playing, training, and educational experience for players, coaches, officials, administrators and spectators. The campus will have an in-house TV network allowing for messaging and programming to be seen throughout the campus. In addition, PlaySight will be the official live streaming and court analytics partner of the campus.
· 26 courts will be PlaySight smart courts and the other 58 courts can be livestreamed.
· The campus serves 250,000 - 300,000 guests and attendees each year!
The campus hosts over 2700 college matches including College Match Day
· The Campus has parking for 560 vehicles.
Player Development/Adidas Performance Center/Lodge/Training Areas
This area features 20 courts including eight DecoTurf acrylic cushion courts, six European Terre Davis red clay courts (over 450 tons of imported Italian red clay) and six Rebound Ace indoor courts.
This area is not open to the public, but there may be announced days, allowing the public to check out the facilities
Area 2 - The Player Development Parking Lot
Area 3 - There is a player lodge which can house up to 40 players participating in Player Development training programs.
Area 4 - The 14 outdoor courts feature high-mast lighting and the 6 indoor courts feature LED lighting.
Area 5 - Payer Develop Headquarters. Coaches and staff will be located here.
Area 6 - The six indoor courts include a viewing area and may be used during inclement weather to allow events to be completed.
Area 9 - The Player Development Headquarters building features a 2nd floor “open office space”, an athletic training area which includes a strength & conditioning area, a 350 foot Sportsbase straight track, a sand pit, indoor and outdoor workout areas, and hot/cold soaking tubs.
Team USA/Tournament Administration/League areas
The Team USA area, in addition to hosting tournaments and league championships, will be used by the 17 USTA sections, along with coaches and their players throughout the country to work collaboratively with USTA Player Development.
The USTA National Campus will host approximately 80 tournaments and events in 2017 with approximately 30,000 participants.
Area 7 - 20 Plexicushion acrylic cushion courts
Area 14 - 32 Har-Tru Hydro-Courts (watered from underground)
Area 11 - Two Championship Courts with seating for approximately 500 (1000 with temporary seating) each.
Area 13 - Tournament administration building complete with trainer rooms, an official’s area, storage, a viewing deck, concession stands, restrooms and a tournament registration area.
Area 12 - Courtside Café with patio seating will be in front of the Tournament Administration building.
The Nemours Family Zone
Area 8 - The Nemours Family Zone consists of eight 60-foot tennis courts and eight 36-foot tennis courts, with the smaller courts helping players of all ages enjoy the game together and promoting tennis fundamentals.
The Nemours Family Zone features tennis sized for age and ability, allowing all family members to get on the court and in the game.
In addition to the smaller courts, low-compression balls and shorter racquets are used, producing longer rallies, more control and more fun.
Collegiate
Area 15 - This area, which will be the home of the University of Central Florida men’s and women’s varsity tennis programs, includes 12 Plexicushion acrylic cushion courts so two matches can be played simultaneously. The venue will also host a variety of other college tennis events.
It will feature a pavilion for concessions, public restrooms, team locker rooms, coach’s offices, and an area for trainers and officials.
The courts are equipped with high-mast lighting for televised events, all 12 are PlaySight Smart courts, and there is elevated seating for 1,200 fans.
Over 300 college dual matches will be played on campus highlighted by a Friday night “College Match Day” series and six televised collegiate matches.
In addition to hosting collegiate events, these courts will also be used when the Campus hosts large hardcourt tournaments and league championships.
USTA Welcome Center
Area 9 - This 50,000 Sq. ft. LEED certified USTA office building opened in July 2016. This modern building will include the main players check-in area, a large pro shop, locker rooms, and the Net post Grill (with seating both indoors and outdoors) on the 1st floor. USTA administrative offices occupy the 2nd floor and will utilize an “open office space” concept.
Everyone; players, guests, fans and visitors are introduced to the Campus by entering the Welcome Center; this is where the customer experience begins.
